Datolite is a colorless or white orthosilicate mineral, basic calcium borosilicate (CaBSiO
[OH]), found in cavities in trap-rock. It occurs as monoclinic system crystals, or, rarely, as granular masses. Hardness 5–5.5; relative density 2.9.
