eidetic image

An exceptionally vivid mental image which the individual "sees" either projected onto a suitable background (e.g., a wall) or with eyes closed in a darkened room. The image may be a memory (eidetic memory) or a fantasy, and may be either voluntary or spontaneous. Eidetic imagery is most common among children.
