fluidization

Fluidized bed reactor.

Schematic drawing of a fluidized bed reactor.

Fluidization is the powdering of a solid so that it can be processed as if it were a fluid. The technique not only allows solids to be conveniently transported, but also hastens gas solid reactions – the gas is injected from below and the powder is suspended to form a fluidized bed, an ideal condition for industrial drying or roasting.
