Haystack Observatory
A radio observatory at Westford, Massachusetts, whose main instrument is
a 36.6-m dish, housed within a protective dome. Opened in 1964 and originally
used for radar observations of the planets, it is now used mostly for radio
astronomy. It is owned by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and
operated by a consortium of academic institutions on behalf of MIT.
