Holocene epoch



The epoch of geological time from 10,000 years ago to the present, i.e., the most recent epoch of the Quaternary period. The term is also applied to the rocks and deposits of this age. The Holocene, also known as the Recent or Post-Glacial Epoch, includes the emergence of humans as settled members of communities.
