LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) is a hallucinogenic drug, causing changes in mental state, sensory confusion, and behavioral changes, when the drug blocks the action of serotonin in the brain. It was first synthesized in the 1940s, and made illegal in the UK and US in the mid-1960s.
