Legendre, Adrien Marie (1752–1833)





Adrien Marie Legendre
French mathematician best known for his work on elliptic integrals; for first publishing the method of least squares; and for deriving the Legendre functions, which find many applications in physics. His most influential work was Elements of Geometry (1794).
