Marijuana is a narcotic drug prepared from the dried leaves of the Indian hemp plant (Cannabis sativa); it is different from hashish, which is prepared from resin obtained from the flowering tops of the plant. Some people smoke marijuana like tobacco. In moderate doses it can act as a relaxant and euphoriant. It has proved beneficial to some sufferers of multiple sclerosis (MS). Possession of the drug is illegal in many countries.
