Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT)

Near-Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT) consists of two autonomous observing systems at Maui Space Surveillance Site (NEAT/MSSS) and at Palomar Observatory (NEAT/Palomar), that consist of special cameras attached to 1.2-meter telescopes to search for near-Earth objects (NEOs) – both near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) and comets. NEAT is a project of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and is funded by NASA.
