National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) The collection of radio astronomy facilities owned by the American government and administered on behalf of the US National Science Foundation by Associated Universities, Inc., a consortium of nine universities. NRAO facilities include Green Bank, the Very Large Array, the Very Long Baseline Array, the Kitt Peak 12-Meter Telescope, and the future Atacama Large Millimeter Array. Its headquarters are in Charlottesville, Virginia.
