National Solar Observatory A branch of the National Optical Astronomy Observatories, founded in 1984, that operates solar telescopes at two main sites: Kitt Peak, Arizona, where the McMath-Pierce Solar Telescope is located, and Sacramento Peak Observatory. NSO also manages the Global Oscillation Network Group.
