Walther Nernst

Walther Nernst was a German chemist who was professor at Göttingen and then Berlin. Nernst was awarded the 1920 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his discovery of the third law of thermodynamics. His other important work was concerned with chain reactions in photochemistry. He wrote Thermodynamics (1893) and The New Heat Theorem (1918).
