Patrick Air Force Base
The base is named after Major General Mason M. Patrick, chief of the Army Air Service (1921–26) and chief of the Army Air Corps (1926–27) and was established following the transfer of control of the Banana River Air Station, set up in 1940 to support Atlantic coastline defense, from the Navy to the Air Force.
