    Paleocene

A geological epoch that extended from about 65 to 55 million years ago. It is the first epoch of the Cenozoic era, when the majority of the dinosaurs had died out and small herbivores and ungulates were flourishing. Primates and rodents evolved toward the end of the Paleocene.
