Robinson, Abraham (1918–1974)
German-born mathematician who founded nonstandard
analysis and did important work in a wide diversity of fields from aerodynamics
to mathematical logic. A modern counterpart to Gottfried Leibniz
in his range of interests and the significance of his research on infinitesimals,
Robinson (he changed his name from Robinsohn) taught at various universities
in Israel, England, Canada, and the United States. Related
