Spemann, Hans (1869–1941)




Hans Spemann
German embryologist awarded the 1935 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his researches into the development of the embryo, showing that specific cells adopted specific functions not through any predetermination of for form but because of the action of local chemical "organizers" (in fact, hormones).
