Spielberg, Steven (1947-)
American director (born in Cincinnati and raised in Arizona) of several populist and influential motion pictures with an extraterrestrial theme, including Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T.: The Extraterrestrial. After being approached by Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan, Speilberg donated $100,000 to support Project META, a SETI program at Harvard University.
