Staudinger, Hermann (1881–1965)




Christian Friedrich Schonbein
German chemist, the discoverer of ozone. After studying at various universities, he became professor at the University of Basle (1835). Schönbein also discovered guncotton, recognizing its potential as a smokeless substitute for gunpowder.
