Steinmetz, Charles Proteus (1865–1923)



Formerly Karl August Rudolf Steinmetz, German-born US electrical engineer who first worked out the theory of hysteresis (c.1892), but who is best remembered for working out the theory of alternating current (1893 onward), so making possible for AC to be used rather than DC is most applications.
