Darling

Stern, Otto (1888–1969)

Otto Stern was a German-born American physicist awarded the 1943 Nobel Prize in Physics for his development of the molecular-beam method of studying the magnetic properties of atoms, and especially for measuring the magnetic moment of the proton. Stern resigned from the University of Hamburg in 1933 and emigrated to the United States where he became professor of physics at the Carnegie Institute of Technology.
