swing-wing aircraft

Aircraft with wings the geometry of which can be changed to suit a wide range of flying speeds. A swing wing, also known as a variable sweep or variable geometry wing, an be moved forwards or backwards in flight. Moved forwards it creates a high aspect ratio (ratio of span to width) with good lift at low speeds for takeoff and landing. Moved backwards it forms a highly swept back wing with low drag, enabling high-speed flight.
