Wallops Island Flight Facility



Wallops Island
An old American launch site on Wallops Island on the east coast of Virginia, about 16 km from Chincoteague at 36.9° N, 75.5° W. It provides launch, tracking and data acquisition capability for small launch vehicles and many of the sounding rockets used in NASA's programs. It also serves as an experimental station for advanced aerodynamic research programs, and provides for flight tests on instrumentation.
