whale shark
The world's largest fish. The whale shark (Rhincodon
typus) is widely distributed in surface waters of tropical seas. It
grows up to 18 m (60 ft) in length and 20 tonnes in mass, and feeds on small
planktonic organisms. The whale shark belongs to the family Rhincodontidae.
