pore

In anatomy, a pore is any opening into or through a tissue or body structure.

In solar physics,a pore is a short-lived dark spot in the Sun's photosphere resembling a small sunspot without a penumbra. Pores last less than an hour and range up to 2,500 km in diameter. They occasionally form where several granulation channels meet and sometimes precede the development of sunspots.
