Schrieffer, John Robert (1931–2019)

John Schrieffer was an American physicist. In 1957, working at the University of Illinois with John Bardeen and Leon Cooper, Schrieffer helped to formulate a theory of superconductivity, which is known as the BCS theory (after the initials). They all shared the 1972 Nobel Prize in Physics.
