Yellow Lake, a large salina Southern High Plains of Texas.

A salina, also called a playa lake, is a dried lake bed found in desert or semi-arid areas. Salinas form where a stream has flowed into an areas of inland drainage and then evaporated, leaving behind tiny deposits of salt. The deposits can accumulate for hundreds of years to form large salty areas.
