Telemann, Georg Philipp (1681–1767)

George Telemann

Georg Telemann was a German Baroque composer and multi-instrumentalist. He spent most of his career as music director to the Hamburg churches. Probably the most prolific composer in the history of music (his output includes 600 overtures, 40 operas, 44 Passion settings, and a huge quantity of instrumental music), he was in his day more highly regarded than Bach. His instrumental music is still popular today.
