Banting, Frederick Grant (1891–1941)
Canadian physician who shared, with J. J. R. Macleod,
the 1923 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work in extracting
the hormone insulin from the pancreas.
This made possible the effective treatment of diabetes.
