    Blish, James (1921-1975)

    James Blish
American science fiction writer and graduate of Rutgers University (microbiology) and Columbia University (zoology), who imaginatively portrayed extraterrestrials and the consequences of their discovery. In A Case of Conscience (1958) he addresses a scenario in which a Jesuit priest and biologist must try to reconcile his beliefs with the discovery of an alien race of intelligent reptiles (see dinosaurs, intelligent).
