Blish, James (1921–1975)
American science fiction writer and graduate of Rutgers University (microbiology)
and Columbia University (zoology), who imaginatively portrayed extraterrestrials
and the consequences of their discovery. In A Case of Conscience
(1958) he addresses a scenario in which a Jesuit priest and biologist must
try to reconcile his beliefs with the discovery of an alien race of intelligent
reptiles (see intelligent dinosaurs).
