fine structure constant
The fine structure constant is the fundamental numerical constant of atomic physics and quantum electrodynamics. Denoted by a, the fine structure constant is defined as the square of the charge of the electron divided by the product of Planck's constant and the speed of light. It has the value 1/137.036.
