Green, Thomas Hill (1836–1882)
English idealist philosopher who was the leading critic of the empiricist
philosophies of John Stuart Mill and Herbert Spencer in mid-Victorian Oxford.
His influence log survived his death, declining only with the resurgence
of the empirical approach in the 20th century.
