Hess, Walter Rudolf (1881–1973)




Walter Hess
Swiss physiologist. He shared with António de Egas Moniz the 1949 Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his work on how specific, highly circumscribed areas of the brain control body functions, such as blood circulation, muscle relaxation, and breathing rate.
