Kossel, Albrecht (1853–1927)
German biochemist awarded the 1910 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine
for his work on proteins and nucleic
acids. His main work was to show that "nuclein" from cellular sources
was not one substance but comprised of a protein and a nonprotein (nucleic
