Lindsay, David (1878–1945)
Scottish-born writer of fantasy whose first novel, A Voyage to Arcturus
(1920), is a deep, metaphysical quest in an extraterrestrial setting. His
description and characterization of the aliens of Tormance – a fictitious
world circling Arcturus – is peripheral
to the main journey of inner discovery. Nevertheless, Lindsay conjures up
powerful images of novel senses and anatomies. C. S. Lewis
is among those who have acknowledged his influence. Related
