mucopolysaccharide

Mucopolysaccharides are a class of polysaccharide molecules composed of amino sugars that are linked into repeating units to give a linear, unbranched, polymeric compound. They are structurally similar to glycogen and starch. Chitin is a mucopolysaccharide that acts like cellulose as a structural polysaccharide for many phyla of lower plants and insects.
