porphin




porphin
A chemical made up of four pyrrole molecules linked by carbon-hydrogen bridges. The bonding arrangement within porphin is responsible for the reddish color of its derivatives. Porphin is the building block of both heme (found in hemoglobin) and chlorophyll.
