Quine, Willard Van Orman (1908–2000)



American philosopher and logician, best known for his rejection of such longstanding philosophical claims as that analytic ("self-evident") statements are fundamentally distinguishable from synthetic (observational) statements, and that the concept of synonymy (sameness of meaning) can be exemplified.
