elephantiasis

Elephantiasis is a disease in which there is massive swelling and hypertrophy of the skin and subcutaneous tissue of the legs or scrotum, due to the obstructed flow of lymph. This may be a congenital disease, due to trauma, cancer, or infection with filariasis, tuberculosis, and some venereal diseases. Recurrent secondary bacterial infections are common and chronic skin ulcers may form.
