geosyncline
Development of a mountain range by sedimentation of a geosyncline and isostatic uplifting.
A geosyncline is a large basic or syncline (concave fold in the rock strata) which has become filled with sediment and whose floor has subsided, so that it contains a vast thickness of sedimentary rock. See also mountain.
