Leopoldo Nobili

Leopoldo Nobili was an Italian physicist and a pioneer of electrochemistry. He generated electricity using platinum electrodes in an alkaline nitrite electrolyte and devised the static galvanometer to measure the current. Nobili also invented the thermocouple and the thermopile (two types of thermometers).
