nystagmus

Nystagmus is an oscillation of the eyes, usually with a relatively slow drift in one direction and a correcting flick in the other. Looking out of a moving vehicle at passing objects induces nystagmus. It can be caused by failure of vision fixation, a hereditary defect; weakness of the eye muscles, or diseases of the ear labyrinths, brainstem, or cerebellum.
