Malebranche, Nicolas (1638–1715)

Nicolas Malebranche was a French philosopher, scientist, and Roman Catholic priest. In both philosophy and science he was much influenced by the thought of René Descartes, in the former field attempting to reconcile Cartesian philosophy with that of St. Augustine, in the latter field researching light, vision, and the calculus.
