hyperbolic functions

A hyperbolic function is a function that arises in hyperbolic geometry and in the study of complex variables. Hyperbolic functions are interrelated in a similar way to the trigonometric functions.

There are six hyperbolic functions related, for a real variable x, to the hyperbola in a manner analogous to the relationship of the trig functions to a circle.
